Water Management During Construction

Vertex was retained by an earthworks and construction client to supervise the pump off of and monitoring of surface water during the construction of a recreation facility in a western Canadian urban centre.

Vertex installed an automatic sampling system at the request of the regulator which collected a sample hourly during operations in addition to Vertex’s field monitoring. Vertex was on site for a period of 6 weeks monitoring the pumping process, collecting samples and coordinating with the regulator and client.

Vertex ensured that the dewatering processes undertaken at the site were compliant with municipal permitting requirements and utilized 3” pumps connected to a flow meter to measure the amount of water discharged to the storm sewer system. The installation of autosamplers allowed samples to be stored and analyzed as needed and eased the reporting process.
